Multiracial Households Living in Between

In this study we examine how people who are multiracial or belong to multiracial households navigate the lasting effects of racial segregation while existing in a medial racial space. We seek to enrich our knowledge of what it means to navigate these complex identities and relationships in the current social, political, and economic climate of the United States. Most research on housing decisions in the racially structured housing market assumes or focus on monoracial households and individuals and households. In this project we investigate how and why multiracial households decide on neighborhoods with particular racial compositions.

Who are Bike Paths for?: New Urbanism, Community and Politics of Urban Space in the Midwest

This project aims to look at the implementation of new urbanist practices to better understand how local communities interact with these architectural practices intended to build community and social equity. We investigate how community members and other stakeholders experience the political process of developing and implementing reconfigurations of urban space. In particular, we want to understand how and why these projects become sites of contestation.
